Probate Abstracts & Index
~ Miscellaneous Individuals ~

San Luis Obispo County California

While doing some cleaning of the SLO Genealogical Library, a set of hand written pages was found. This set of pages contained abstracted information from Probate Packets stored in the San Luis Obispo Superior Court.

Louise Radcliffe, a member of the San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society was the one who went to the Court and abstracted the information. She has since passed away, but we are greatful for her diligence in finding and recording historical and genealogical information in our County.

The following Probate Records were Abstracted:

Name & Packet # Name & Packet #
 1 - Joaquin Blanco  8 -  Jose M Villa
 2 - Trifon Garcia  9 -  Gabrael Salazar
3 - Thomas Oliver [Tomas Olivera]  10 - Victor Linares
4 - William Read [Reade, Reed]  11 - Juan Rios
 5 - Henry Amos Tefft  12 - John Matlock
 6 - Thomas Park  13 - Edward Eversfield
 7 - Joseph B Clemments [Clements], M D  14 - Vincente Canet
 15 - Francisca Garcia

The records recorded by Louise have been typed 'as is', no attempt has been made to correct spelling, language or data.
These records are very old, it is not known whether they still exist.

The typed pages are complete in one file:
The searchable pdf can be found here.

Additional Research can be undertaken by the SLO Genealogical Staff, but be advised that the actual Probate Packets
are very old and might not be available through the SLO Superior Court.

Probate Index ~ 1850 > 1899
A typed Index was found in the SLO Genealogical Library: Since there was already a partial index to the early Probate Records [A > R], alpha letters S > Z were added. The completed searchable Index can be found here.

Probate & Estate Data
[Gleaned from the San Luis Obispo Daily Telegram & the San Luis Obispo Tribune]
1869 > 1921
The Index for the miscellaneous news items found in the old SLO Newspapers can be found here.
Because Probates take a long time to finalize, articles are put into local papers over a period of months or even years.
The indexed information is being made available to Researchers ~ Scans of articles or a series of articles are available as attachments to an email.
Include Name, Date and type of article with your query and send to Martha
