Sexton of the Cemetery [Jim Dority] was contacted by Martha A Graham,
Project Chair in August of 2005. The Sexton Record of Interments had
never been transcribed and it was decided that our Society would do the
transcriptions. Those who worked on the
transcriptions were: Phoebe Adams Pat
Bunyard Bob & Lolita Christian Debi
Dinsmer Martha A Crosley Graham Rich Miller The information that was
transcribed included: Name, Date of Birth,
Place of Birth, Date of Death, Age, Interment Location, Mortuary, Burial
or Cremation, and Veteran Status. The Transcriptions were
completed in late December 2005, then we began the ‘Proofing Process’.
The Sexton Records were located both on Rolodex Cards and Sexton Record
Books. The original transcriptions were taken from the Cards, then
proofed by going through the Books. By doing this, we found many
interments that had not been recorded on the Cards, and of course we
found corrections and additional information. The ‘Proofing’ was
completed There are 4593
Interments in the Cemetery. There are three Civil War Veterans, many
Spanish American War Veterans, as well as Veterans from World Wars I &
II, Since there were so many
great Monuments and Headstones, we decided to take some photographs.
Those responsible for the photographs are: Phoebe
Adams, Pat Bunyard and Martha Graham.
